Overview

The ultimate journal club. So much more than just the discussion of one article and its strengths and weaknesses.

Our focus is on reviewing evidence relating to conditions and practice and using the workshops as a platform to discuss this evidence and find practical ways to use this evidence to tailor treatment and make rehabilitation more effective within the scope of the unique South African health care setting. We are passionate about teaching clinicians how to read and interpret the literature and hopefully get them interested and excited about accessing research independently.

These are 3 hour workshops presented monthly by various people reviewing the evidence related to a particular topic.

Web conferencing is available for therapists who are unable to attend Coffee Club in person or who prefer to tune in from the comfort of their home or office. Log in and out times are recorded to prove attendance and no CPD questionnaires are required for these courses.

On completion of the course, your CPD certificate for 3 CEUs will be emailed to you or loaded on your My Courses Profile to be downloaded.

Your registration fee entitles you to access an additional online journal article activity on the topic. Participants may choose to read the article and complete the CPD questionnaire to obtain a further 2 CEUs. The idea behind this is that we will discuss how to read and interpret the literature during the workshop. This then becomes an opportunity for clinicians to read the literature themselves to internalise these skills.

due to covid-19:
coffee club is currently online only

NOTE: Due to the current COVID-19 Crisis and government’s call for social distancing, all Coffee Clubs will be converted to online modules for the remainder of 2020.

These will consist of:
1.A 2-hour video presentation which will be made available for viewing one week before the scheduled course date.
2. A1-hour live web conferencing session will be held on the scheduled course date, during which a case study will be presented by the course presenter. Participants will also be able to ask the presenter questions and share clinical experience. If you are unable to attend this live session, you will be able to access the recording after the course.

Online CPD questionnaires will be provided to test knowledge and ensure the content has been watched so that CEU points can be awarded. If you achieve a score of 70% or more, you will be able to download your CPD certificate immediately.

Access to the additional online journal article for 2 CEUs will be granted as usual.
