Thank you so much Helen for this (Coffee Club Fibromyalgia). You have a real gift for making really complex topics accessible and easy to understand. I found your talk excellent both from a theoretical perspective as well as being very practical with strategies I can start using with clients immediately. I think this talk should be essential listening for any OT (or rehab professional) who works with adults, regardless of whether in a pain specific context or not.

Fabulous lectures and Great workshops!

I have just watched the OTLink's coffee club video on cognition in FCE's. It's really excellent! Very comprehensive, something for everyone doing any assessment (which is every OT!), great value for money, highly relevant and lots of food for thought... and watched in my own time in my own space, so no travel required! If you haven't already registered, I would recommend you do... registration is still available this week. Well done The OTLink, such a good session. This is a wonderful format. I'm looking forward to the follow-up zoom session.

This opened so many doors for me! I have anxious tendencies and I started noticing how much the kids in our school struggle with it. I specifically had a grade 1 child come for a comprehensive assessment and I realized that he is crippled by his anxiety. I had NO idea what to do or how to approach him, so I did Naomi's course. It was so insightful! I immediately jumped in and started implementing her suggestions! I have such a better understanding of anxiety as a whole, even with myself. I have since started helping so many children with their own anxiety and I see such an improvement. This course is magical, I've rewatched the content so many times now!”

I had a patient who was simply not progressing and at the time had completed the course. It was patient with a TBI, but I decided let me try and apply this, it was amazing to see how they engaged and improved in function once I was setting goals at their level of creative ability. I have since always tried to work with this model as a foundation to goal setting. “

It helped me so much as a comm serv who was just trying to keep her head above water and understand all the forms. And it's still helping me now that I'm working at a paeds practice and seeing children in schools. My aha moment was when all the bits and pieces I'd being trying to "learn as I go" clicked into place and I saw the school based assessment process as 1 big picture.”

Before the course I had a very basic understanding (emphasis on basic) of how to handle and do treatment with ASD kiddos. My sessions often felt chaotic, as I didn't know how to get a child who insisted on just throwing to participate in the session. After the course, I walked into a session with a kiddo who was functioning on a level 3, and who just threw any toy I presented to him. Instead of having another "mess" of a session, I joined the child but redirected the "everywhere" throwing into a box. And after a couple of throws and side glances from the child, he joined me in throwing into the box - just one simple thing of meeting the child where they are at changed my sessions with ASD kiddos and also my understanding of ASD kiddos. Thank you for taking my skills and knowledge from "basic" to "understanding"

Using motivational interviewing strategies with a client with chronic pain- When a specific question was asked, I could see how it triggered them to think about their pain and the impact of their pain differently. The conversation shifted from "I can't do XYZ" to "I can try doing it this/that way".”

The course was fantastic in getting to know how best to brand or market your practice. As a clinician, it is often difficult to have the 'Business owner' hat on as well - but it is so important. This course gave me many ideas regarding marketing, planning and advertising. All these things seemed daunting before the course. But are now more manageable afterwards.”
