Course Summary

Building on last year’s Burnout Think Tank, this course equips OTs working in vocational rehabilitation, insurance, medico-legal and FCE contexts with evidence-based cognitive tools to strengthen ethical, effective and sustainable practice. Grounded in neuroplasticity and growth-mindset principles, it explores how thinking patterns shape clinical reasoning, decision-making, resilience and professional confidence in high-pressure environments. Start the year with practical strategies that support better outcomes for your clients, smarter business practice, and intentional self-care—without compromising professional standards.

Description

The OT Link is proud to bring you FCE Think Tank, a discussion group chaired by Robyn Hunter and presented by guest speakers.

This month we welcome:

Aimee Isaacs [BSc OT (UCT)]

Aimee is an occupational therapist based in Cape Town, South Africa, with over 15 years of experience supporting mental health across the lifespan. With a passion for mental wellness, anxiety, and stress management, Aimee founded The Self-Care Studio in 2020 to make mental health support more accessible and relatable for South Africans. What began as an online platform sharing tips and tools on Instagram and YouTube has since grown into a physical business.

Through The Self-Care Studio, Aimee now hosts a variety of community-focused mental health initiatives — including Calm Classes, weekly group sessions designed to regulate the nervous system and reduce stress through evidence-based techniques like breathwork, visualization, and relaxation which attendees can include in their daily lives. She also runs Breathe, Sip and Paint events — these are alcohol free creative wellness gatherings that make mental health support more inviting and destigmatized in social spaces and teach people the importance of creativity for mental health.

Aimee is also in private practice, offering neuroaffirming and trauma-informed occupational therapy to clients living with ADHD, anxiety, burnout, and other mental health challenges. Her mission is simple but powerful: to normalize conversations about mental health and provide accessible tools that support emotional resilience, one class, one client, and one community at a time.
