July Masango
He completed a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy at University of Witwatersrand in 2013. He has extensive post-graduate training including an advanced Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation from the University of Pretoria, Certificate in Practical Labour Law from UCT, a Masters in Occupational Therapy from the University of Pretoria and is currently busy with his PhD in Occupational Therapy focusing on Mental Health at the University of Witwatersrand. He completed his community service at Kalafong Academic Hospital and then worked at Steve Biko Academic Hospital and Tshwane Regional Hospitals performing Functional Capacity Evaluations and assessment and treatment of mental healthcare patients. July’s working history includes work in the Vocational Rehabilitation unit at Tshwane Rehab Hospital, Sessional Lecturer for the University of Pretoria, and work as Disability Management Consultant & Occupational Therapy Expert for the University of Pretoria. In addition, he has experience in medico-legal assessment and report writing. He serves on and has served on the following as a medical expert: Gauteng Province Vocational Rehabilitation Task Team, Council of Medical Scheme (CMS) and the Health Professions Council Of South Africa (HPCSA).
Luther Monareng
Luther obtained his BSc in Occupational Therapy in 2011 and his Masters Degree in 2019 from Wits. He has completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Hand Therapy.
He is currently a PhD candidate at University of KwaZulu Natal.
He worked at Tintswalo Hospital from 2012 to 2016. In this setting he was assessing, treating and issuing assistive devices to adults & children with physical, intellectual and mental health disabilities. He helped to initiate the Occupational Therapy Psychiatric Programme and Hands clinic. He was a lecturer at Wits from 2016 until 2021 when he moved to lecturing at UKZN. Luther has done extensive research into self-employment in South African informal micro-enterprises.
I liked that the presentation was done but it was quite academic. But that’s just the nature of the presentation. The presenters were good and very detailed.
