Start doing and learn while you do

The talk gives confirmation that OTs are valuable in what they do and the skills they have. However, having an OT qualification is only the start, opportunities are endless if you are willing to put yourself out there!

Really insightful and thought provoking

As a junior OT this was very helpful and important for me to hear and I think anyone at any point of their career could gain sometime valuable from this presentation. It helped remind me not to restrict the work we do within the confines of a specific box and question my own beliefs or expectations of what working as an OT should be or any other type of job.

Inspiring perspective

I enjoyed the equal value Kate placed on a wide range of very varied types of work she has done. I agree with her prioritising being an excellent colleague and doing work to the best of your ability while also being conscious of your areas of incompetence and ready to learn. I think the need to "translate" who we are and what we do as OTs is crucial to our effectiveness in any context.
