Summary of the article

This article aims to describe the activities used in a therapeutic toy library with groups of children and pre-teens (aged 2 to 13 years) with Down Syndrome, and to correlate the activities with the age group. The analytical study that was performed to accomplish these objectives, is presented. The article also discusses the importance of play for child development, the difficulties children with Down syndrome often experience, and the focus and possible settings of occupational therapy intervention for these children.

Age appropriate toys and the importance of play

The course provided valuable insight into age appropriate toys to use for different aged children with intellectual disability. It thoroughly explained the importance of play in children's development.
