FCE Think Tank focuses on medico-legal, insurance, and vocational rehabilitation settings. Each session features expert presenters sharing the latest insights on requested topics. Designed as an interactive online meeting, this webinar encourages group discussion, critical analysis, and practical clinical application.

Course Objectives

  • Understand the purpose of employer engagement in the vocational rehabilitation process and set clear objectives for these discussions.
  • Plan and structure conversations with employers about an employee’s work capacity and support needs.
  • Identify the key topics that should be addressed during employer discussions.
  • Understand what information can and cannot be shared with employers, including confidentiality and consent considerations.
  • Discuss and negotiate return-to-work plans, including reasonable workplace accommodations.
  • Manage common challenges in employer discussions.

This month we welcome:

Michelle Coates [BSc (OT) WITS; MSc (OT) WITS]

Michelle graduated as an occupational therapist in 2009 and went on to complete a postgraduate diploma and master’s degree, cum laude, in OT from Wits University in 2016. After gaining several years of valuable clinical experience, Michelle transitioned into the corporate sector, where she applied her occupational therapy skills in the healthcare, wellness and insurance industries across South Africa and Europe. Her passion for workplace health and disability management led her to start Blue Balance, where the focus is on training, program development, coaching and consulting, all aimed at promoting employee wellbeing and inclusion.
