Objectives of this course

On completion of this CPD activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the historical development and varying conceptualisations of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
  • Identify common behavioural characteristics associated with PDA presentations.
  • Critically evaluate the strengths and limitations of research methodologies used in PDA studies.
  • Describe the methods used to identify and measure PDA in research and clinical contexts.
  • Discuss the potential relationships between PDA, autism, anxiety, trauma, and intellectual functioning.
  • Reflect on the clinical implications of the PDA debate for therapeutic assessment and intervention planning.

The reality of PDA

It was informative to gain knowledge regarding this condition. More practical example would be helpful, or case studies?
