Course Content:

  Increasing cases of pathological myopics, especially in younger patients, has led to new developments in slowing progression. This talk will focus on current treatment modalities to decrease the rate of progression of myopia. Evidence will be presented on the use of pharmacological agents to delay progression and when these should be prescribed.

Caroline Gooding was born and raised in Johannesburg and studied medicine at Wits University. She then specialised in Ophthalmology at the University of Stellenbosch.
She works at the The Ear and Eye Clinic in Johannesburg and has a special interest in oculoplastics, strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology and paediatric ophthalmology. She volunteers for the Tshemba foundation doing cataract outreach tours at Tintswalo Hospital in Bushbuckridge.
She is married to Matthew and has two daughters.
She loves spending time in the bush with her family, all forms of the arts,reading and good wine.
Caroline is an honorary lecturer and external examiner at Stellenbosch University and on the board of SASOPS ( South African Society of Oculoplastic Surgeons)

I wish this treatment was around in my youth .

Dr Caroline Gooding is a superb presenter who puts her information across at all levels of understanding . For those of us who are myopic it is incredible to know that there is treatment around today to slow the progression. Much of it depends on compliance but as parents and grandparents we need to bring back outside play
