Course Content:

Driving laws vary widely throughout the world. This course is designed for any health care provider who deals with patients’ functional ability to learn about functional vision involved in the task of driving, and how to apply data collected from functional vision testing to make driving recommendations to patients. The participants will learn how to incorporate some of these techniques into their own practices. This course focuses on patients who are visually impaired.

The Low Vision Centre of Learning is thrilled to welcome Dr Serena Sukhija

Dr. Serena Sukhija is the Chief of Vision Rehabilitation and Assistant Professor at the Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry.

Dr. Sukhija earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Neuroscience, with an associate degree in Economics from the University of California, San Diego. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. She went on and did a residency in Low Vision Rehabilitation at the State University of New York College of Optometry and Lighthouse Guild. She completed her fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry in 2015.
Dr. Sukhija formerly served as the Coordinator of Low Vision Services at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, Adjunct Faculty at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine, and Adjunct Clinical Instructor at SUNY College of Optometry.  She is from Los Angeles, California.
