Description

The OT Link is delighted to bring you a recorded presentation by Helen Roome.

Helen Roome is an Occupational Therapist offering online therapy to people living with persistent pain and fatigue. Her expertise in pain and fatigue management builds on over 25 years of broad clinical experience in adult physical and psychiatric rehabilitation; as well as a post-graduate diploma in Interdisciplinary Pain Management she completed at UCT in 2019 with distinction. And her learning continues!

Helen is the Chairperson of the OT Pain Management group of SA and she regularly presents at accredited training events on pain and fatigue-related topics. She is also on the allied health practitioners committee of the South African Society for Sleep and Health (SASSH).

Helen has a special interest in central sensitization syndromes, such as Fibromyalgia, ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and long-COVID.

She also recently published a book to guide people living with pain to self-manage called “Your pain playbook – effective daily strategies for life beyond pain”.

Above all, Helen is a wife and mom who really tries to practice what she preaches – so you’ll find her in the garden on the weekend and behind an easel in the holidays!
