    • Brief revision of the Vona du Toit Model of Creative ability, and the relation to the process of recovery post-stroke
    • The action-volition-action loop of creative ability applied to the physical and psychosocial impairments caused by stroke
    • Optimising neuroplasticity in stroke rehabilitation through the use of the Vona du Toit Model of Creative Ability treatment principles – Level of Tone to level of Imitative Participation

1 hour Recorded Driving Case Study and Question and Answer Session
  • Juliana Freeme and Bhavna Baghoo discuss an interesting and complex case presented by a course participant, applying Creative Ability and Neuroplasticity principles to this unique case and setting, and drawing the link between evidence and clinical practice.

Description

 The OT Link is excited to welcome Juliana Freeme back.

Juliana (MSc (OT Neurosciences)) has worked in academia for the past 12 years. She has mentored and taught hundreds of students predominantly in the fields of adult neurological rehabilitation and paediatrics. She has presented at numerous local and international conferences and has authored 5 publications. She is at the cutting edge of Adult Neuro Rehabilitation in South Africa and is well qualified to share her insights on best practice in our context.

Juliana has co-authored a chapter on Creative ability in Stroke Rehabilitation, together with Bhavna Bahgoo, based on her research and teaching in this area. This is an innovative look at Stroke Rehabilitation from a uniquely occupational therapy perspective, delving into purposeful activity and its fundamental place in activity-based neurorehabilitation.
