Summary of the article

This article describes the theoretical basis and value of meaningful activities in the context of the older adult. The research conducted reviewed residents experiences of activities and QoL in Long Term Care Facilities (LTCF) and the experiences of professionals working in these units and compared this to the available literature. This was used to develop an approach to provision for meaningful activities within these units. The BAM approach is discussed and a pilot study into its effectiveness in impacting on QoL presented.
