Objectives of this course

On completion of this CPD activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the impact that hand injuries often have on people’s performance of everyday occupations.
  • Describe factors that may influence the return-to-work process of people with serious hand injuries.
  • Define the term “work transition”.
  • Describe the role of occupational therapy in the rehabilitation process for people with serious hand injuries.
  • Define the term “vocational rehabilitation”.
  • Compare the general work occupations and working conditions of high-income countries and low- and middle-income countries.
  • Describe the stages related to work transition after serious hand injury that captured the main intention of occupational therapists in a middle-income country.
  • Describe the strategies that occupational therapists in a middle-income country utilise to optimise the work transition process following serious hand injury.
